Twig ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the Twig application and its SMS check-in service. By using Twig, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information you provide directly: When you create a Twig account and complete onboarding, we collect your mobile phone number, your preferred check-in time window, your Three Circles recovery plan (outer, middle, and inner circle items), your emotional triggers and risk windows, and the names and phone numbers of any support contacts you choose to add. You may also provide your preferred pronouns to personalize the SMS messages you receive.
SMS message content: We collect the replies you send to Twig check-in messages (such as "1," "2," or "3") and any free-text responses. This content is used solely to generate the appropriate follow-up message and to support your recovery plan.
Usage information: We may collect basic technical information such as device type and app version to maintain and improve the service. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
We use the information we collect to deliver the Twig SMS check-in service, including sending scheduled check-in messages, processing your replies, and sending follow-up messages based on your response. We also use your information to notify your designated support contacts when you indicate you are struggling, to personalize messages using your preferred pronouns, and to maintain and improve the reliability of the service.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for advertising purposes. We do not share your recovery plan or SMS content with third parties except as described in this policy.
Twig uses Twilio, Inc. to deliver SMS messages. When you use the SMS check-in feature, your phone number and message content are transmitted through Twilio's platform. Twilio's privacy policy is available at twilio.com/legal/privacy. We have entered into a data processing agreement with Twilio consistent with applicable privacy law.
Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply to SMS messages sent and received through Twig. Message frequency depends on the check-in schedule you set during onboarding.
If you add support contacts to your Twig account, those individuals may receive SMS notifications when you indicate during a check-in that you are struggling. By adding a support contact, you represent that you have obtained that person's consent to receive such messages. We will only contact support persons in the circumstances you configure during onboarding.
We retain your account information and recovery plan for as long as your account is active. SMS message logs are retained for a limited period to support service delivery and troubleshooting. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the address below.
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Twig is a recovery support tool, not a licensed clinical service. The SMS check-in feature is designed to complement — not replace — professional therapy, counseling, or medical care. Twig is not a crisis intervention service. If you are in crisis, please contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988, or contact your therapist or a trusted person directly.
Twig is intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If we become aware that we have collected information from a minor, we will delete it promptly.
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable privacy law to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to opt out of certain uses of your data. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information below. You may also opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any Twig message.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of Twig after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
